Bromley Chapelski partners to join Bull, Housser & Tupper

‘90’ Years Young

 

On November 6, 2008, a special celebration took place at the Starlight Casino, in New Westminster - one of Blanche’s favorite spots!  60 of her friends and family gathered together to “surprise” and celebrate with Blanche on her 90^th birthday.

 

The room was nicely decorated - placed in the center of all the tables were various colorful ‘Piggy Banks’ – balloons swayed gently in the breeze – bells were ringing from afar.

 

Our “STAR” entered the room – blinded by flashing lights, she stopped – looked about – heard clapping and saw people standing, screaming – “SURPRISE”!!  At that moment, Blanche felt (I’m sure) that she had won a golden jackpot, filled with the warmth of many friends!  She was ‘totally surprised’.

 

Dinner was served, tributes were made, ‘scrumptious’ birthday cake followed.  Chitter-Chatter and laughter were in abundance – throughout the evening, Blanche mingled about, always with a twinkle in her eye and a smile from ear-to-ear.  The room was buzzing with memories!                 ‘Twas a night to remember’…

 

November 12, 2008 was a send off day for Blanche and her friend Jean - off on a 15 day cruise to Hawaii – “SURPRISE”!! Two other friends – Loni (that’s me) and Irene – we set sail with them.  It was ‘party’ time all over again!!

 

On November 23, 2008, Blanche’s ‘birthday’ –officially 90 years young and ‘Queen for a Day!’  What a celebration aboard the “Golden Princess” – photos with the Captain, gifts galore, balloons, cake, champagne at dinner and as a ‘special treat’ – entertainers and crew surrounded Blanche, serenading her with soft romantic music –

“A Fantastic Night” - wonderful cruise – better by far when you share the fun and laughter with good friends.  Homeward bound, time to file away the pictures and the memories – until the next birthday!

Blanche has been a life member of the Vancouver Women’s Transportation Club for 55 years.

 

Retired from Simpson-Sears Limited; traveled the world over; Blanche is the official club photographer, Sergeant-at-Arms and Flag Bearer.

 

A Member of the Woodlands/PACCLS Committee – 50 plus years.

 

Blanche received the Oswald Crawford memorial Plaque for her outstanding contribution to the Club – “How True”, that is.

 

Although Blanche never held an executive position, she has always assisted on various committees, especially conferences – her home is always open for Club gatherings.

 

Blanche, in her quiet way, has brought out the best in all who know her, she believes in the Club and its members and she will be there to guide us for many birthdays ahead.
